Hyderabad: Telangana marked its 11th Formation Day today, June 2, 2025, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressing the public to highlight the state’s achievements and ongoing initiatives since assuming office in December 2023.

Revanth Reddy paid tribute to the martyrs of the Telangana movement and acknowledged Sonia Gandhi’s role in the creation of the state. He said that while Telangana has completed ten years, many aspirations remain unfulfilled, prompting the formation of a government committed to addressing these challenges.

Since taking charge, the government has focused on reviving the state’s economy and correcting systemic issues. Vice-chancellors were appointed to neglected universities, the Telangana Public Service Commission was reformed, and new Education and Agricultural Commissions were established. Institutions such as the Information Commission, Lokayukta, and Human Rights Commission have been strengthened to function independently.

The Chief Minister highlighted women’s empowerment through the Indira Mahila Shakti Mission, which provided zero-interest loans worth ₹21,000 crore in the first year to support women entrepreneurs. Initiatives also include solar power projects managed by women’s self-help groups, women-operated petrol stations, and 100 Indira Mahila Shakti stalls established in Shilparamam.

Women benefit from free RTC bus travel, with the government purchasing 600 buses via women’s associations, of which 150 are currently leased to RTC. The Mahalakshmi scheme offers subsidized cooking gas and free electricity, along with housing support. Special health cards with QR codes are being issued to women self-help group members to enable annual health checkups.

The government has waived loans totaling ₹20,617 crore for over 25 lakh farmers, provided 24-hour free electricity valued at ₹15,333 crore, and increased financial support under the Raitha Bharosa and Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa schemes. Paddy production has risen to 275 lakh metric tons, making Telangana the top producer in the country. Over 8,000 procurement centers have been established to protect farmers from exploitation. The Bhoo Bharathi-2025 Act has been introduced to resolve land disputes.

Regarding employment, the government has filled over 60,000 job vacancies and issued appointment letters. More than 10,000 teachers have been recruited through DSC, with ongoing recruitment in healthcare, police, irrigation, and other sectors. Financial assistance of ₹1 lakh is provided to civil service aspirants. The Young India Skill University and a planned Sports University have been set up to train youth and athletes.

Education reforms include the establishment of an Education Commission to regulate private institutions and improve government schools. Plans to introduce preschool education in government schools are underway. Construction has begun on 58 Young India Residential Schools for SC, ST, BC, and minority students with a budget of ₹11,600 crore.

Healthcare infrastructure is being improved with a ₹2,700 crore redevelopment project at Osmania Hospital. The Aarogyasri scheme provides free treatment up to ₹10 lakh for the poor. Reservation for BCs has been increased to 42% in local bodies, education, and employment. Telangana’s caste census revealed BCs constitute 50.36% of the population, prompting the central government to plan a national caste census. SC sub-castes have been categorized into three groups legally, and Telangana Social Justice Day will be observed annually on February 4.

Welfare schemes include the Indiramma homes program, which offers ₹5 lakh financial aid for house construction. The government is constructing 4.5 lakh houses with ₹22,500 crore allocated. The Sanna Biyyam scheme provides fine rice to three crore poor people. Telangana has secured investment agreements exceeding ₹3 lakh crore following delegations to Davos, Singapore, and Japan. Major IT companies including Google, Microsoft, HCL, and Cognizant are expanding in Hyderabad. Urban development projects include the Musi Rejuvenation Project, development of Bapu Ghat, and a 30,000-acre Future City project featuring AI, Sports, Pharma, and Life Sciences hubs. The Future City Development Authority has been established.

Infrastructure plans include renovation of Mamunuru airport and construction of an ₹18,000 crore Regional Ring Road with connecting radial roads. Metro rail expansion is ongoing, with a ₹24,000 crore second phase project. Law and order efforts have strengthened the police department, with Telangana ranking first in the India Justice Report-2025. Hyderabad’s Narcotics Enforcement Wing received an international award in Dubai. The government reaffirmed support for national security and integrity.

The state hosted the ‘Bharat Summit’ with over 450 delegates from more than 100 countries and also hosted the 72nd Miss World pageant, showcasing Telangana’s historic and cultural heritage. Looking forward, the government aims to make Telangana a $1 trillion economy in the next ten years and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, India’s 100th year of independence, under the Telangana Rising-2047 plan. Revanth Reddy called for continued public support to achieve these development goals across sectors.
