Telangana Education Dept signs 6 MoUs with leading NGOs to boost EdTech in Govt Schools

Hyderabad: In a significant move to improve public education, the Telangana State Education Department has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six prominent national and international NGOs to provide advanced EdTech-based learning solutions free of cost to students in government schools. The event was held in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy Anumula.

The collaboration involves reputed organizations including the EkStep Foundation, led by Nandan Nilekani; the Prajwala Foundation, headed by Dr. Sunitha Krishnan; Physics Wallah, led by Alakh Pandey; Khan Academy; PiJam Foundation, founded by Shoaib Dar; and Educate Girls, led by Safeena Husain. This partnership shows the government’s commitment to elevating educational standards throughout the state.

Under the MoUs, the EkStep Foundation, which is currently operating in 540 schools, will expand its reach to more than 5,000 primary schools across 33 districts. It will offer foundational courses in Telugu, English, and Mathematics for students in grades three to five. Physics Wallah will provide free coaching for competitive exams such as NEET, JEE, and CLAT to intermediate students, beginning preparatory training from the school level itself. Khan Academy will deliver STEM-focused video lessons aligned with the state curriculum for students in grades six to ten.

The Prajwala Foundation will implement child safety and protection programs across Telangana, targeting students from classes six to twelve. PiJam Foundation will offer training in coding and computational thinking for students from class one through ten. Meanwhile, Educate Girls aims to bring over 16,000 out-of-school children, especially girls, back into the education system and improve literacy and learning opportunities for them.

Key officials present at the signing ceremony included Government Advisor K. Keshava Rao, Education Department Secretary Yogita Rana, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy, Directors of School Education Narsimha Reddy and Naveen Nicholas, and Special Secretary Haritha.

Representatives from the partnering organizations also attended, including Jagadeesh Babu, CEO of EkStep Foundation; Dr. Sunitha Krishnan of Prajwala Foundation; Prateek Maheshwari, co-founder of Physics Wallah; Swati Vasudevan, MD of Khan Academy India; Shoaib Dar, founder of PiJam Foundation; and Gayatri Nair Lobo, CEO of Educate Girls.

The Telangana government regards these partnerships as a major step toward transforming the education sector and fulfilling Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision for improving education across the state.
