Hyderabad: An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 struck Mahabubnagar, Telangana, on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 12:15:26 p.m. IST, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, with coordinates at latitude 16.47 N and longitude 77.84 E. Details on the impact of the earthquake are awaited.

This marks the second earthquake reported in Telangana this week. Earlier, on December 4, 2024, a much stronger earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit Mulugu, also in Telangana, at 7:27 a.m. The tremors from this earthquake were felt throughout the state, including in the city of Hyderabad. The event was described by the Telangana Weatherman (@balaji25_t) as one of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in the past 20 years.
