Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana has seized an Ayurvedic product, ‘Bennato Call Herbal Powder,’ in Godavarikhani, Ramagundam Mandal, Peddapalli District, for making misleading claims about its ability to treat kidney stones. The product's label falsely advertised it as a remedy for the condition, which is a violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

The Act prohibits the advertisement of certain drugs for the treatment of specific diseases, including kidney stones. Under the law, no person is allowed to publish advertisements regarding such treatments.

During a raid on May 13, 2025, DCA officials discovered that ‘Bennato Call Herbal Powder,’ manufactured and marketed by Green Care Bio Sciences, was being sold in a medical store in Godavarikhani. The medicine was found to be in violation of the law due to its misleading advertisement. The officials seized the stock during the operation.

Shravan Kumar, Drugs Inspector for Peddapalli, led the raid under the supervision of M. Srinivasulu, Assistant Director, Karimnagar.

Further investigations are ongoing, and action will be taken against the individuals as per the law. Individuals found guilty of promoting misleading advertisements for such medicines can face imprisonment for up to six months, a fine, or both.

Shahnawaz Qasim, IPS, Director General of DCA, has urged the public to report any suspicious manufacturing activities or illegal practices concerning medicines by calling the DCA's toll-free number at 1800-599-6969, operational from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM on working days.
