Telangana police detain cybercrime kingpin under PD Act
HYDERABAD: The Telangana police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Kolanati Nagashiva, 36, of Venkateshwara Colony, Suchitra, Jeedimetla, for allegedly running an international cybercrime racket that trafficked Indian youth to Southeast Asia.
According to police, Nagashiva lured several young people by promising high-paying jobs in Laos and Thailand. Once there, their passports were confiscated and they were forced to work in illegal cyber fraud operations. Multiple complaints were filed against him by victims, and four cases have been registered.
Officials said the gang was operating at an international level. On September 13, 2025, police invoked the Telangana Preventive Detention Act, 1986, against Nagashiva and shifted him to Chanchalguda Jail. The PD order, issued from Nizamabad district, is pending confirmation by the Telangana government.
Commissioner warns offenders of strict action
Police have urged the public to avoid engaging in illegal activities such as gambling, matka, and online fraud, and to report offenders to the nearest police station. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential, officials assured.
All Station House Officers (SHOs) in Nizamabad, Armoor, and Bodhan divisions have been directed to identify offenders within their jurisdictions.
Nizamabad Police Commissioner P Sai Chaitanya, IPS, said surveillance systems have been strengthened to monitor those disturbing public order. “Strict action will be taken under the PD Act against those involved in anti-social activities,” he warned.
