CID Telangana raids betting rackets in 3 states, arrests 8
HYDERABAD: In a first-of-its-kind operation, the Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) carried out raids across the country and arrested eight people for running online betting operations.
The raids were conducted simultaneously at six locations in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab. Six CID teams were deployed for the operation.
Officials said the accused were operating betting through six apps Taj0077, Fairply.live, Andhra365, Vlbook, Telugu365 and Yes365 causing large-scale financial losses to the public.
Seizures and ongoing probe
Several hardware devices containing huge volumes of data were seized during the searches. Investigators are now analysing the data to identify the main organisers, who are suspected to be based abroad.
A senior CID officer said the crackdown was aimed at dismantling the betting network and tracing its financial links. "We have arrested eight operators. Further investigation is underway to track the masterminds who may be operating from outside India," the officer added.
