Hyderabad Metro expansion: Telangana cabinet gives green light
Hyderabad: Telangana cabinet approved the Hyderabad metro rail second phase expansion project on Saturday. The Detailed Project Reports(DPR) will be forwarded to the central government for approval as it’s a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project.
Briefing the media on the cabinet decisions, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said, “Detailed project report(DPR) for the Second phase metro expansion has been approved by the state cabinet. The Phase II project costs about Rs 24,269 crore, including expansion routes in five stretches from- Nagole to Shamshabad, Raidurg - Kokapet, MGBS- Chandrayangutta, Miyapur to Patancheru, and LB Nagar to Hayathnagar.”
Metro to RGIA airpot to become reality
The ambitious Metro Phase 2 project is a 36.6-kilometer airport metro corridor connecting Rajiv Gandhi International Airport(RGIA) to the city center. Corridor IV (Airport Metro Corridor) covers about 36.6 Km from Nagole to Shamshabad Airport via L.B Nagar, Karmanghat, Owaisi Hospital, DRDO, Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally, Aramghar, New High Court, and Shamshabad Jn on NH. Out of the total length, 35 Km is elevated and 1.6 Km is underground, with 24 metro stations including one underground Airport station.
Further Metro Phase II includes four new lines: a 11.6 km extension from Raidurg to Kokapet Neopolis, a 7.5 km Old City line linking MGBS to Chandrayangutta, a 13.4 km expansion from Miyapur to Patancheru, and a 7.1 km extension from LB Nagar to Hayathnagar.
It is pertinent to note that earlier, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reviewed the Metro Rail phase DPR preparation with senior MA&UD department officers. In September, Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) MD NVS Reddy presented the alignment, features, and station locations of the metro second phase corridors.
Telangana Cabinet Decisions -
3500 Indiramma Houses for each constituency will be implemented couple of days after Diwali. Through Grama Sabha, Poorest of poor will be selected first.
As part of Diwali, One DA will be released for Govt employees.
