Techie held in Hyderabad for transporting MDMA worth Rs 21L from Pune
Hyderabad: A software engineer was arrested by the Sangareddy DTF and excise police on January 20, 2025, for transporting 120 milligrams of MDMA crystal drugs from Pune to Hyderabad.
The accused has been identified as Harjat Singh, 35, a resident of Hyderabad and a native of Jammu Kashmir, he was reportedly using his earnings from his software job to fund his drug addiction, eventually turning to drug trafficking to sustain his habit and earn more money.
The authorities carried out a raid at the Sangareddy Malkapur Flyover, where they intercepted the vehicle carrying the drugs. The accused was en route to Hyderabad from Pune in a Tata car when he was caught.
Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered the drugs, which have an estimated value of Rs 21.06 lakh, along with the car.
The operation was led by Assistant Excise Superintendent K. Srinivasa Rao and included CI Chandrasekhar, Sub-Inspectors B. Yadaiah, G. Hanmanth, P. Srinivasreddy, and Constable Prabhakar Reddy.
The excise police, under the leadership of Excise Enforcement Director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, as well as Medak Deputy Commissioner Harikishan and Assistant Commissioner G. Srinivasa Reddy, commended the team for their successful operation in curbing drug trafficking in the region.
Harjat Singh has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing regarding his network and other potential suppliers.
