Tarnaka Junction under flyover to close from June 6  

Hyderabad: The Tarnaka Junction under the flyover will be closed for vehicular movement starting June 6, 2025, the Hyderabad Traffic Police announced on Wednesday, June 5, 2025.

The junction was reopened on a trial basis on April 18, 2025, to facilitate traffic between Osmania University and Lalapet. During the trial, officials conducted various assessments, including drone surveillance, simulation studies, traffic signal adjustments, and analysis of road engineering. Feedback was also collected from commuters.

Following the trial, authorities concluded that keeping the junction open was not feasible. Studies showed that it contributed to congestion and increased the risk of accidents.

“In the interest of public safety and to ease traffic flow, the junction will be closed,” said the Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad.
