Hyderabad: Tension erupted at the Deccan Cement Factory in Bhavanipuram, Janpahad of Suryapet district after workers from Bihar attacked the factory's office and clashed with the Suryapet district police, following the death of a labourer in a recent factory accident.

The incident occurred after the management allegedly broke a promise to provide compensation to the deceased worker's family. Workers responded by destroying glass and furniture inside the office.

Protests turn violent

The situation escalated when the Suryapet police arrived to control the protest. Workers attacked officers with sticks and stones, damaging two police vehicles in the process. Reports indicate that workers chased police personnel, who retreated from the area.

The conflict began when a worker was injured while working at the Deccan Cement Factory in Bhavanipuram, Janpahad, Palakeedu Mandal of Suryapet district on Sunday. He was transported to a hospital in Miryalaguda but died during treatment. Workers had been protesting in front of the company, demanding justice before the clash occurred.

Factory incident sparks outrage

The workers' death and the subsequent broken promise regarding compensation triggered the violent response. The factory remains the site of significant tension as authorities work to restore order. The Suryapet police reached the spot and are trying to pacify the workers.
