Survey map digitalization to begin in three Telangana villages within two days
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is moving forward with its initiative to improve land governance and resolve land disputes by developing accurate land records. Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated that under the Bhu Bharathi Act, it is now mandatory to attach land survey maps during the registration process. To implement the system effectively, the government has identified the need for a large number of surveyors.
As part of the recruitment drive, applications for 5,000 licensed surveyor positions were invited, and 10,031 applications were received by the May 17 deadline. The Minister reviewed the progress of the recruitment process on Monday, May 18, 2025, and instructed officials to complete preparations for training.
Training for the selected licensed surveyors will begin on May 26 at the Survey Training Academy of TALIM in Gachibowli. The two-month program aims to equip surveyors with the necessary skills to support the state’s land survey efforts. The Minister expressed confidence that this recruitment will improve employment opportunities, especially in rural areas, and support the government’s goal of resolving long-standing land disputes.
Pilot for Digital Village Maps
As part of the digital transformation of land records, the Telangana Remote Sensing Applications Center (TGRAC) is set to begin digitalization of village survey maps. The project will launch on a pilot basis in three villages within the next two days, Lingala in Lingala Mandal (Nagar Kurnool district), Thakkallapalle in Mallial Mandal (Jagtial district), and Peddakorukondi in Kalluru Mandal (Khammam district).
According to the Minister, digital maps will make land records more accessible and accurate. Compared to manual methods, digital mapping provides quicker and more cost-effective access to land details such as area and boundaries. He said that digital records will enhance transparency in government services, speed up mutation processes, and ensure secure storage of data, enabling timely updates and retrieval when needed.
