Summer showers lash Hyderabad, light rains provide relief from intense heat

Hyderabad: The residents of Hyderabad are witnessing the first significant spell of rain on Thursday, April 3, 2025, bringing respite from the scorching heat.

These summer showers are expected to provide reprieve from intense hot summer conditions which were prevailing for the last few weeks.

Weather enthusiast T Balaji, popularly known as the Telangana Weatherman had predicted severe thunderstorms will begin affecting Telangana from April 2. The forecast also said that powerful thunderstorms will hit various parts of the state on Thursday afternoon.

Dense clouds have formed in the north and west regions of the city. Medchal received the first thunderstorm rains while most parts of Hyderabad are witnessing light showers accompanied by strong winds.

Drizzles were reported in areas like Nampally, Malakpet and Abids while scattered thunderstorms lashed parts of Sangareddy district.

As Hyderabad is under a yellow alert till April 5 for thunderstorms and squally winds, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad predicted the city will see a gradual decline of 2 to 4 degree Celsius over the next four days.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Medak, and Kamareddy while Nirmal, Jagtial, Peddapalle, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Rajanna Sircilla, and other nearby areas will remain under a 'yellow' alert on Thursday.

The forecast for April 4 suggests cloudy conditions for most parts of Telangana, with rains predicted in some parts of the state. The day temperature will remain between 23 degree Celsius and 34 degree Celsius.
