Student death at Telangana Minorities Residential School in Saroonagar raises questions
Hyderabad: A pall of gloom has descended over the Telangana Minorities Residential School for Boys (Yakutpura-II) in Saroonagar following the mysterious death of a 14-year-old student, Mohammed Rizwan. The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has raised serious concerns and allegations of negligence.
According to the school's night staff, the sequence of events began after dinner. Rizwan attended the scheduled study hour and subsequently went to keep his bag in his classroom. It was there that he reportedly fainted. He was immediately rushed to the nearby Focus Hospital in Champapet. Tragically, the young boy was declared ‘brought dead’ upon arrival by the doctors.
The loss is an immeasurable tragedy for the family, as Mohammed Rizwan was the only son of his parents, Mohammed Nazeer and his wife.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism from community leaders. Amjed Ullah Khan, the spokesman of MBT, visited the Osmania General Hospital mortuary to meet the grieving father. Khan pointed out that this is the second such suspicious death in a Telangana Minorities Residential School, referring to a previous case involving a girl student in Medak.
MBT leader alleges bias in response to a Muslim student's death
Khan expressed deep anguish over what he perceives as a lack of concern from the state administration and media. He stated, “If a child from SC, ST, etc. had died, the entire Telangana State would have been jolted and the incident would have been breaking news on national media. Many ministers would have visited the spot or met the deceased parents to console them.”
He further highlighted the government's unfulfilled promises from the Medak case, adding that despite assurances of an inquiry, ex-gratia payment, and a job for a family member, the parents of the deceased girl are still waiting for the commitments to be honoured. Khan pessimistically predicted a similar outcome for Rizwan's family, asserting, “I am sure in Mohammed Rizwan's death also nothing will happen and nothing will be given to the deceased parents as the child who died is a Muslim.”
