Hyderabad: A speeding car lost control and rammed into a footpath near Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Banjara Hills early on Saturday, January 25, 2025, resulting in one death and two injuries.

According to the reports, the incident occurred around 4 a.m. when the car, heading towards Jubilee Hills, veered off the road, mounted the pavement, and struck people sleeping there. The identity of the deceased and the injured individuals has not been confirmed yet.

After the crash, the driver fled the scene. Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to identify the car and its owner. Authorities suspect the driver was operating the vehicle recklessly.

The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Banjara Hills Police are continuing their efforts to trace the car owner based on the vehicle's number plate. Further details are awaited.

In a separate incident, a young man, identified as Anil, lost his life in a hit-and-run accident near the Mithila Nagar MLA camp office in Meerpet on Wednesday night.

CCTV footage shows an unidentified speeding vehicle hitting Anil as he crossed the road. The victim sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Osmania Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early Thursday morning.

Locals had immediately come to his aid. However, Anilโ€™s family has expressed dissatisfaction with the Meerpet Police's handling of the case, as no significant progress has been made despite a complaint being lodged three days ago.

In another road incident, a bus carrying Ayyappa Swamy devotees from Upparguda in Madannapet, Hyderabad, overturned on a ghat road in Kottayam, Kerala.

The driver, Raju, lost control while negotiating a curve, resulting in his death and injuries to eight devotees. The bus was traveling from Kottayam to Sabarimala when the mishap occurred.

The injured were shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for treatment. Devotees later thanked Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, for his assistance in coordinating medical help and the return of the driverโ€™s body to Hyderabad.
