Telangana: Farmers in Nandulapalli battle snail infestation
HYDERABAD: Snail infestation has spread across Nandulapalli village in Nennel mandal, Mancherial district, damaging crops and vegetables. Farmers are facing heavy losses as the pests, first noticed in a village panchayat nursery last year, have now multiplied and spread throughout the area.
Farmers struggle to save crops
Snails are infesting vegetable fields and cotton farms in large numbers. Villagers said they are collecting the snails by hand and discarding them outside the fields in an attempt to save their crops.
Scientist warns farmers to stay alert
Bellampalli Krishi Vigyan Kendra scientist Nagaraju said, “Snails are commonly seen in forest nurseries. They survive only in regions with high rainfall and moisture. Farmers should remain vigilant if they attack crops.” He added that he would soon visit Nandulapalli and provide guidance after assessing the situation.
