SMR Vinay City Flat Owners Welfare Association raises concerns over air pollution in Miyapur

Hyderabad: The SMR Vinay City Flat Owners Welfare Association has raised serious concerns over the air quality in Miyapur, Hyderabad, which was recorded at 342. The association attributed the poor air quality to the ongoing construction work by two builders, Sia Builders and Primark Builders, on Naren Gardens Road. The residents are calling for immediate action to address the situation, urging both builders to take necessary precautions and government authorities to step in.

The association claims that the construction activities have caused significant air pollution, with dust and dirt spreading to neighboring areas. According to the residents, the two construction companies have been failing to meet minimum safety and environmental standards despite objections from locals. They have highlighted the lack of dust control measures, which is reportedly leading to respiratory issues among adults, children, and elderly residents.

One resident in the area reported an air quality level of 342 inside their apartment, highlighting the severity of the issue. Locals have accused the construction companies of neglecting their responsibilities and have expressed frustration over the inaction of government officials, including those from the Pollution Control Board (PCB) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

In response to the ongoing pollution, the SMR Vinay City Flat Owners Welfare Association has sent a letter to the site manager of Sia Constructions. The letter requests the installation of dust-proof sheets or protectors to reduce the dust impact on neighboring apartments. The residents have highlighted the need for immediate action to protect their health and ensure a safe living environment.

They stated, "We are witnessing a heavy dust impact from your site, which is directly affecting our apartments. Many residents, including children and the elderly, are suffering from the dust, which may lead to various health issues. We kindly request that dust-proof sheets or protectors be installed to minimize the dust."

The association also called on local authorities to take responsibility and address the pollution concerns, urging officials to prioritize the health and safety of the residents. The situation continues to affect daily life, with locals already struggling with traffic congestion and now battling increased pollution levels.
