SIT to investigate online betting cases in Telangana, says CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced a firm approach towards online betting apps, including online rummy, stating that those found promoting or managing such platforms would face strict legal consequences. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on March 26, 2025, Revanth Reddy revealed plans to appoint a Special Investigation Team (SIT), or the CBCID, to investigate cases involving online betting and related activities.
The Chief Minister highlighted that merely questioning those promoting these activities would not provide a long-term solution. He stressed the need for an in-depth investigation into neighboring states and countries involved in such operations. “If anyone is found directly or indirectly promoting or managing betting apps, the government will take strict action,” CM Revanth Reddy stated. He also indicated that the law could be amended to increase punishments for offenders. He further affirmed that the Telangana government would not tolerate addictions within the state.
The chief minister also addressed the concerns of law and order in the state, stating that some were spreading false narratives in an attempt to tarnish the government's image. “Whenever incidents occur, the government acts swiftly. But certain individuals are trying to damage Telangana’s reputation to hinder investments,” he said.
He highlighted that under the current government, law and order had been maintained without disruption over the past 15 months. He also criticized attempts to destabilize the state's development. “There is a plot to destroy Telangana’s prestige and push the state into bankruptcy,” he remarked, adding that such conspiracies would not be tolerated.
Revanth Reddy called on opposition leaders to adopt a more constructive approach. “Take someone like Jana Reddy as a role model for opposition leadership. Offer suggestions, but creating commotion will not bring elections. The next elections are in 2028,” he said, addressing the internal issues.
The Chief Minister also discussed the government's plans for land acquisition and development, particularly in areas like Gachibowli. He criticized those attempting to hinder the process, stressing the importance of open auctions for attracting international investment. “We are acquiring land for development, but some are trying to block it,” he added.
Revanth Reddy asked BRS party member Harish Rao several direct questions about ongoing infrastructure projects, including regional and radial roads, and land acquisition for the development of the state. “Should we build a regional ring road or not? Should we develop a future city or not?” he questioned, reiterating the government’s commitment to progress.

Addressing concerns related to development projects like Mallanna Sagar and the Palamuru Rangareddy project, the CM defended the government's actions and dismissed calls for by-elections, stating that no by-elections had been held in the past under similar circumstances.
Revanth Reddy urged opposition members to offer constructive advice rather than obstructing the government's efforts for state development. "We have no hatred towards you; the people have already punished you," he said, calling for reasoned contributions to the development of Telangana.
