Singer Kalpana smells conspiracy behind Allu Arjun’s arrest
Hyderabad: Superstar Allu Arjun has been receiving support from the Telugu film fraternity ever since his release from Chanchalguda jail on Saturday morning. Several actors and directors from Tollywood have been meeting the Pushpa actor to express their solidarity with him as he faces legal trouble in connection with the Sandhya theatre incident.
As the actor tries to come to terms with the ordeal, singer Kalpana has criticized the state government for its handling of the Sandhya theatre issue and alleged a possible conspiracy behind Allu Arjun’s arrest.
Addressing a press conference, Kalpana Raghavendar said it was unfortunate that a National award-winning actor was arrested from his bedroom without any regard for his privacy. She claimed the police did not extend basic courtesy during the arrest. It's unfair that Allu Arjun, who is regarded as a national icon for his contribution to Indian cinema, was treated like a criminal, the singer added.

“Allu Arjun is a national icon. The way he was arrested was disrespectful and unjust. Why was he charged under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder',” Kalpana told reporters.
The Pushpa actor was arrested from his home in the Jubilee Hills area on December 13, days after he was booked by Chikkadpally police in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede during the film’s premiere show held at the Sandhya theatre. He was produced in a lower court which sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
Hours later, Telangana High Court granted actor Allu Arjun interim bail for four weeks while hearing his quash petition and directed him to furnish a surety amount of Rs 50,000. However, the actor was not released the same despite the high court’s order due to ‘procedural delays’. He was released from Chanchalguda jail after overnight detention in the stampede-linked death case.
