SI caught taking Rs. 25,000 bribe at Gachibowli Women Police Station
Hyderabad: A Sub-Inspector posted at the Women Police Station in Gachibowli, Cyberabad, was caught red-handed on Thursday, July 10, 2025, by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 from a complainant.
The officer, identified as K.Y. Venu Gopal, allegedly demanded the money to remove the complainant’s mother’s name from a case registered under Crime No. 150/2025. The case involves charges under Sections 85, 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita of Women Police Station, Gachibowli, Cyberabad.
ACB officials said the bribe amount was recovered from the officer at his instance. A chemical test on his left-hand fingers confirmed contact with the tainted currency. Venu Gopal has been arrested and sent to judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
