Hyderabad: Income Tax staffer leaps to her death in Kavadiguda
Hyderabad: A 52-year-old income tax official died after allegedly jumping off the Central Government Offices (CGO) Towers in Kavadiguda on Saturday.
The tragic incident occurred at around 11.15 am. Upon receiving a call from the security personnel at the CGO Towers, the Gandhinagar police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The deceased woman, identified as Jayalakshmi, sustained severe head injuries from the fall and died on the spot. She was an Income Tax Inspector in the I-T department located in the building. She visited the office despite it being a holiday today and leapt to her death from the eighth floor of the building.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Jayalakshmi may have taken this extreme step due to health-related issues. It is reported that she was undergoing treatment for some health issues but was upset as there was no improvement in her health condition.
In a similar incident, a 26-year-old man ended his life on Friday night at his residence at Suchitra junction in Jeedimetla after losing money in cricket betting apps.
After losing his parents in a tragic accident three years ago, the deceased Rajveer Thakur was sharing accommodation with his uncle.
As a working professional, he was earning a handsome salary. He was addicted to placing bets on multiple online betting apps. He would invest his entire salary on these apps. After running out of money, he would take loans from friends and relatives to continue betting. Consequently, he suffered huge losses and was struggling with financial problems. Overwhelmed by his losses, Thakur ended his life near the railway tracks between Suchitra junction and BHEL.
Upon receiving information, the police reached the site and shifted the body to the Gandhi hospital for an autopsy. Subsequently, the body was handed over to the family members. A case was registered by the Secunderabad railway police and investigation is on.
