Severe storm warning issued for Telangana; Heavy rain expected in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Telangana Weatherman @balaji25_t has issued a severe storm warning, forecasting powerful thunderstorms across Telangana starting tomorrow. The storms are expected to affect northern parts of the state initially, with severe weather impacting central and southern Telangana between April 3 and 4. Hyderabad is also expected to experience at least one or two powerful thunderstorms from April 2 to 4.
Following the heatwave of the past five days, temperatures in Telangana have begun to drop, offering some respite. However, the weather will worsen again with the onset of thunderstorms. Farmers have been urged to stay alert as conditions may rapidly change.

Weather Advisory for Telangana Residents:
Heavy rain is expected to hit Hyderabad, Telangana in the coming days. Residents are advised to take the following precautions:
1. Stay Indoors: Avoid unnecessary travel, especially during heavy rain.
2. Flooding Risk: Be cautious of waterlogging in low-lying areas and roads.
3. Driving Safety: Reduce speed, keep headlights on, and watch out for slippery roads and puddles.
4. Secure Outdoor Items: Secure loose items on balconies and in yards to prevent them from being blown away.
5. Monitor Weather Updates: Stay informed by checking local weather reports and alerts.
Telangana Government Heatwave Advisory:
Earlier, the Telangana government has issued a heatwave advisory in response to rising temperatures. To protect citizens from the heat, the government recommends the following measures:
Do's:
• Drink plenty of water, even when not thirsty, and consume Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS), lemon water, buttermilk, and fruit juices.
• Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables like watermelon, musk melon, oranges, and cucumbers, which have high water content.
• Wear loose, light-colored clothing and protect yourself from direct sunlight with an umbrella, hat, or towel.
• Limit outdoor activities to early morning and evening hours when the temperature is cooler.
• Stay indoors in well-ventilated spaces, and close windows and curtains during the day to keep heat out.
Don'ts:
• Avoid going outside between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m., when the sun's rays are strongest.
• Refrain from strenuous activities in the afternoon.
• Avoid walking barefoot in the sun and cooking during peak heat hours without proper ventilation.
• Do not consume alcohol, tea, coffee, or sugary drinks, as they can cause dehydration. Avoid high-protein, salty, spicy, or oily foods, and refrain from eating stale food.
Heat-Related Illnesses:
The government has also warned about symptoms of heat-related illnesses, including nausea, vomiting, dry skin, dizziness, fainting, muscle cramps, rapid heartbeat, and confusion. Immediate medical attention is advised if any of these symptoms occur.
To manage emergencies, the government has set up special beds, intravenous fluids, essential medicines, and ORS sachets at public health facilities. These will also be distributed through community health workers such as ANMs, ASHAs, and Anganwadi workers.
The advisory was issued by Dr. B. Ravinder Nayak, Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Telangana, to ensure the safety of citizens during this extreme weather.
