Hyderabad: An Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police died in a road accident when an APSRTC bus struck him at Hayathnagar on the city outskirts early on Saturday, March 22, 2025. The fatal incident occurred at 4:40 a.m. near Hanuman Temple at Laxma Reddy Pallem, within the jurisdiction of Hayathnagar Police Station.

T.M. Nandeeswara Babji, an Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police at the DGP office, was crossing the road when a speeding APSRTC bus, traveling from Abdullapurmet to Hayathnagar, hit him. The bus, belonging to the Nuzvidu Depot, with a registration number AP39-VA-9563, was reportedly being driven recklessly when the collision occurred. Babji sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

According to police, Babji had gone for a morning walk at around 4:30 a.m. When he crossed the road near the Hanuman Temple, the bus hit him, and he fell to the ground, suffering fatal injuries.

In a separate incident on March 19, 2025, Dr. Soha Fatima, 23, a woman doctor, died after a fire engine collided with the scooter she was riding near Upparpally, Attapur. Dr. Fatima, who was traveling with a colleague towards Rajendranagar, died at the scene. Her colleague, also a doctor, was critically injured and rushed to a hospital. The fire engine driver reportedly lost control before the accident occurred. Rajendranagar police have registered a case, and Dr. Fatima’s body was sent for a post-mortem.

Earlier, on March 8, 2025, a hit-and-run accident in Bachupally claimed the life of K. Nani, an engineering student. Nani and two friends, Karthik and Vishwanth, were riding a scooter when an unidentified vehicle struck them. Nani fell onto the road and was run over by a heavy vehicle. Police are investigating the incident.

In another incident on March 7, 2025, 19-year-old Kanishk Reddy died in a collision between a car and a lorry on the Outer Ring Road near Gollapalli Kalan. Kanishk, the grandson of Teegala Krishna Reddy and son of former BRS corporator Teegala Sunaritha Reddy, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

These incidents are part of a series of fatal accidents in the city, including the deaths of two doctors in January 2025 after their car lost control near Khanapur, and the death of Dr. Nilay Reddy in a crash on the ORR in September 2024. Other fatal accidents have involved pedestrians and motorcyclists being struck by heavy vehicles.
