Secunderabad: The Rajiv Rahadari Property Owners' Joint Action Committee (JAC), led by Convener Telukunta Satish Gupta, organised a massive protest rally on Monday, October 21, 2024, against the Telangana Government's decision to widen the Rajiv Rahadari Road to 200 feet. The rally drew a large gathering of concerned citizens, property owners, and employees, who marched from Secunderabad Club to Tirumalgherry Crossroads.

During the rally, Satish Gupta voiced the concerns of property owners and local businesses, demanding that the government reconsider its decision and reduce the proposed road widening from 200 feet to 100 feet.

He argued that several major areas in Hyderabad, such as Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Kondapur, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Himayatnagar, Begumpet, Abids, Nampally, and Hi-Tech City, operate effectively with 100-foot roads. These areas also benefit from supporting infrastructure like metro lines and flyovers, making the 200-foot expansion on Rajiv Rahadari, particularly from Gymkhana Ground to Tumkunta, unnecessary and unjust.

Satish Gupta highlighted an inconsistency in the plan, pointing out that before and after the Gymkhana Ground, the road remains only 80 feet wide. He urged the government to extend the same consideration to property owners and commercial establishments along the Rajiv Rahadari stretch.

Additionally, Gupta reminded that the government reconsidered a similar decision regarding the Uppal main road, reducing the widening from 200 feet to 150 feet. He called for a rational approach in the case of Rajiv Rahadari, asserting that 100 feet is sufficient for flyovers and other development activities in the area.

The JAC reiterated that they are not against development but urged the government to consider the livelihoods and interests of thousands of people whose properties and businesses are at stake due to the current road widening decision.

Satish Gupta urged the Telangana Government to review the plan and find a balance between development and the welfare of affected residents and establishments.
