How the racket operated

Investigators said Siba was engaged by Bikram of Ganjam, the prime accused who is absconding, to transport ganja for ₹10,000 per trip. He had earlier completed one successful delivery. On September 19, Siba and the boy collected two trolley bags containing 19 packets of ganja, weighing about 38 kg, from Bikram at Berhampur railway station. They were instructed to deliver the consignment to Amou from Maharashtra, who is also absconding.

During questioning, both confessed that they were carrying the narcotics to hand over to Amou at Secunderabad.

The arrests were made by GRP inspector B Saieashwar Goud, sub-inspector D Ramesh and their staff, along with RPF inspector Bhavani Shankar Saraswat and his team, under the supervision of superintendent of railway police Chandana Deepti and deputy superintendent S N Jawed.

Inspector general of police (railway and road safety) K Ramesh Naidu appreciated the teams and announced that the officers would be suitably rewarded.
