SCR: Purchase tickets via R-Wallet in UTS mobile app, get 3 pc cashback

Hyderabad: As part of its digital push across the network, the South Central Railway (SCR) has introduced R-Wallet app which enables cashless transactions.

This facility allows the passengers to make the payment through different digital modes such as R-Wallet, Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, UPI apps, or through internet banking, according to a release on Tuesday.

The passengers can find the R-Wallet in the UTS app, in which the amount can be deposited up to the limit of Rs 20,000. The app user will get a 3 percent cashback on the tickets purchased through R-Wallet.

This cashback facility is part of the promotions to enable the purchase of unreserved tickets through the UTS Mobile app.

In 2016, the ‘UTS’ mobile app was introduced over 26 suburban stations in Hyderabad twin cities. Later, this facility was expanded to all the non-suburban stations. Starting July 2018, the passengers could use the app for booking platform, journey and season tickets across all the UTS-enabled stations in the South Central Railway zone.

Scaling it up, the facility was enabled to all the destinations across Indian Railways. It will be convenient for unreserved passengers and booking of paperless tickets. According to the officials, the passengers have adopted the app and they noticed that the share of unreserved tickets booked through the UTS mobile app has witnessed a 12 percent increase in the usage for the app. The average passengers in a day availing the UTS mobile app facility in 2023–24 from April to January was 83,510, while the average passengers per day in the current financial year 2024–25 is 93,487.

UTS mobile app is available for download on Android, iOS and Windows platforms. For the convenience of passengers the app features a user-friendly interface, provides multi-language support and also has a cashless transaction facility.
