Cyberabad: The Sanathnagar Police apprehended a gang of robbers involved in a late-night robbery near the Sanathnagar Railway Station. The action followed a complaint filed by Abhishek Kumar, a 25-year-old private employee from RC Puram, Cyberabad, who reported the incident on November 16, 2024.

The accused have been identified as Thakur Surender Singh (22), an auto driver; Biradar Santosh (22), an auto driver, and Shaik Hujair Baba (23), a driver.

The case U/s 309(4) BNS-2023) was registered, and an investigation was launched immediately. Within 48 hours, police arrested three suspects, recovering stolen mobile phones, cash, and other valuables.

According to the complaint, Abhishek Kumar had traveled from Kurnool to Hyderabad on the night of November 15, 2024. Upon arrival at the MGBS bus stand around midnight, he was waiting for a taxi to RC Puram when he boarded a yellow-colored auto rickshaw. The auto, which already contained three individuals along with the driver, took a U-turn after crossing the Bharathnagar Bridge, reportedly to buy gutkha. The driver then stopped near Sanathnagar Railway Station in a dark, open area.

One of the individuals in the auto brandished a knife and threatened Kumar, demanding money. The robbers forcibly took his cash, as well as his mobile phone (a Redmi 5G). They also slapped him and forced him into revealing his PhonePe password. The assailants transferred Rs. 12,700 and Rs. 1,181 from Kumar’s account, before further demanding money.

Kumar called his friend Rohit Pal, who transferred an additional Rs. 200 via PhonePe. The gang then beat Kumar and fled the scene.

Following the complaint, Inspector K. Srinivasulu of the Sanathnagar Police Station formed two investigation teams, to identify and apprehend the culprits. The police teams successfully tracked down the suspects on November 18, 2024, at 10:15 a.m.

The police recovered three mobile phones, one knife, and an auto rickshaw from the suspects during the arrest.
