Refrigerator blast sparks house fire in Sanathnagar, No injuries reported
Hyderabad: A refrigerator explosion early Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, sparked a fire at a house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Sanathnagar. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Residents reported hearing a loud blast from the refrigerator, followed by smoke and flames. The fire department dispatched a fire tender to the scene, and HYDRAA Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams assisted in bringing the fire under control.
Officials suspect a compressor blast in the refrigerator may have caused the fire. An investigation is underway to confirm the cause. This is the latest in a series of recent incidents involving explosions across the Hyderabad region.
On June 30, a massive explosion at the Sigachi chemical factory in the Pashamylaram industrial area of Sangareddy district resulted in the deaths of 40 workers. The blast, triggered a fire that engulfed the building and threw some workers nearly 100 metres from the site.
Several victims were charred beyond recognition, and DNA fingerprinting is underway to confirm their identities. Thirty-five injured workers are receiving treatment in nearby hospitals. A total of 143 people were involved in the incident. Post-mortem examinations are being conducted at Patancheru Area Hospital, where a team of senior forensic doctors has been deployed. Ten ambulances were arranged to transport the deceased.
Earlier, on March 25, a gas cylinder exploded at Crescent Café & Bakers in Ameerpet, injuring five people, one of whom was reported to be in critical condition. The blast occurred in the early hours and damaged nearby structures, including Hotel Hari Dosa.
