No Pakistani nationals found on SAARC visa in Hyderabad: Police
Hyderabad: In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Central government announced a series of measures against Pakistan including the suspension of Pakistani nationals from traveling to India under the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Visa Exemption Scheme while asking the Pakistani nationals holding these visas to leave the country within 48 hours.
These measures were taken during the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) - which is the highest decision-making body on security matters - which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
In response to the directive from the CCS, the officials from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Commissionerates on Thursday launched a thorough search operation to identify whether any Pakistani national was residing in the city under SAARC visas.
The officials from the Special Branch checked the official records and scanned several localities during their field verifications to see if any national from the neighbouring country was staying in the city on a SAARC visa.
The comprehensive field inspections revealed that no Pakistani nationals with valid SAARC visas (SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme)were currently residing within the jurisdictions of the three commissionerates.
“We have verified all relevant records and found no individuals matching the criteria outlined in the CCS directive pertaining to the SAARC visa holders,” said a senior official from the Special Branch, Hyderabad.
The officials from Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates also said that they did not find any SAARC visa holder in their police station limits.
Meanwhile, police have advised the residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities.
