Road encroachments cleared to decongest Tolichowki road
Hyderabad: Days after clearing the encroachments near Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills under its Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments (ROPE) programme, the Hyderabad Traffic Police removed encroachments on the Tolichowki-Shaikpet stretch on Tuesday.
The encroachments lining the Tolichowki road were cleared under the supervision of Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand. These encroachments would disrupt the smooth flow of vehicular traffic heading towards the Hi-tech city and Gachibowli areas and it became necessary to clear them, the top cop asserted.
The Commissioner further noted that the occupied footpaths contribute significantly to traffic congestion on roads and the traffic police will intensify its ROPE drive to free up carriageways across the city.
The police officer appealed to citizens and public representatives to coordinate with the traffic police in decongesting the roads and improving the traffic situation in the city. He warned the people against parking their vehicles on the roads in a haphazard manner. “The traffic police will tow away such vehicles or put clamps to lock the tyre (for cars),” he added.
Later, the Hyderabad traffic police crushed unauthorized sirens and multi-tone horns, seized over the past month, under a road roller along Tolichowki road. A total of 1,015 sirens and 525 multi-tone horns were flattened by the heavy vehicle.
