New Rhino Food Court opens at Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a move to enhance visitor experience at the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, a new food court named Rhino Food Court was inaugurated today, April 18, 2025, by R.M. Dobriyal, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Telangana.

The food court, located adjacent to the rhinoceros enclosure, has been developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with Mrugavani Restaurants and Resorts India Pvt. Ltd. It marks one of the first PPP initiatives undertaken by the Telangana Forest Department.

With a seating capacity of over 300, the Rhino Food Court offers a variety of snacks, meals, soft drinks, ice creams, tea, and coffee. Visitors can enjoy refreshments in a green setting while viewing the animals in nearby enclosures. The facility has been leased to Mrugavani Restaurants and Resorts for a period of 10 years.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dobriyal said, “Nehru Zoological Park is a popular destination for wildlife and nature enthusiasts. To improve the amenities for visitors, the zoo has collaborated with Mrugavani Restaurants and Resorts to ensure the availability of quality, hygienic food.”

He also acknowledged the efforts of Elusing Meru, PCCF P&V CWLW; Dr. Suvarna, PCCF HH & CEO CAMPA; Dr. Sunil Hiremath, Director of Zoo Parks; Vasantha, Curator; and the entire zoo team. He noted that Dr. Suvarna played a key role in guiding the project from conception to completion.
