Hyderabad Airport Expands International Connectivity with 10 New Direct Flights
Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad is set to expand its global reach by introducing direct flights to ten new destinations over the next 12 to 18 months. This initiative aims to enhance travel convenience, foster economic partnerships, and further establish Hyderabad as a key international aviation hub.
As part of the initial phase, RGIA will launch direct flights to select cities within the next six months, improving accessibility and strengthening global connections for travelers and businesses alike. Aviation authorities have announced the launch of new international routes aimed at enhancing global connectivity and providing travelers with more convenient options. These additions include Hong Kong, a major financial hub renowned for its extensive business and tourism opportunities; Hanoi, the culturally rich capital of Vietnam; Addis Ababa, a strategic gateway to Africa that strengthens access to the continent; and Amsterdam, a key European center for trade and tourism.
These new routes are expected to significantly reduce travel times while offering seamless connections to some of the world's most influential economic and cultural destinations. By improving accessibility to these major cities, the expansion supports global trade, tourism, and business travel, reinforcing international partnerships and economic growth.
Following the successful launch of its first phase of expansion, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) is in advanced discussions with airlines to introduce additional direct flights over the next 12 to 18 months. The upcoming destinations include Paris, strengthening ties with one of Europe’s major cultural and economic centers, and multiple cities in Australia, significantly reducing travel time. Kathmandu will see enhanced connectivity for tourism and pilgrimage, while Krabi will offer direct access to Thailand’s renowned beach destinations. Jakarta, the capital of Southeast Asia’s largest economy, will see improved business and tourism links, and Denpasar in Bali will provide seamless travel to one of the world’s most sought-after island destinations. These additions will further position Hyderabad as a critical aviation hub in South Asia.
RGIA has already strengthened its international presence by launching several direct flights. VietJet introduced bi-weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in March 2025, operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Air India Express began direct flights to Phuket, Thailand, on January 31, 2025, with thrice-weekly service, which will increase to six weekly flights from February 15, 2025. These expansions bring numerous benefits to travelers, including reduced travel time by eliminating lengthy layovers, greater convenience with non-stop routes, and increased opportunities for economic and educational growth. Direct flights to Australia, for example, will cut current travel durations by nearly half, significantly benefiting students, professionals, and businesses engaged in global markets. With RGIA’s continuous expansion, Hyderabad travelers can look forward to a more seamless and efficient international travel experience.
