HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced that government employees who neglect their parents will face a 10% salary cut, with the deducted amount credited directly to their parents’ bank accounts. He said a law will soon be enacted to implement the move.

Parents’ sacrifices must be honoured, says CM

Revanth made the announcement while handing over appointment letters to 562 Group-1 officers at the Koluvula Panduga event at Shilpakala Vedika. “Your parents sacrificed everything for your future. If any employee neglects them, I will deduct 10% from their salary and transfer it to the parents,” he said.

The chief minister criticised the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, alleging it had reduced the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to a “political rehabilitation centre.” He said his government had reconstituted the commission and ensured transparent recruitment.

Allegations of corruption dismissed

Revanth rejected allegations that he sold jobs, stating that coaching centres and vested interests tried to derail recruitment through court cases. “They spread lies. I ask the 562 officers here—did I take even a cup of tea from you? We fought for your future with honesty,” he said. The CM said the government completed the recruitment process in just 19 months, unlike earlier regimes where notifications dragged on for years. Outlining Telangana’s economic vision, Revanth said the state aims for a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047. He urged the new officers to build a “Telangana model” of governance and never forget their roots.

"From today, you will no longer be unemployed youth. " You are officers of Telangana. Do not betray public trust,” he said, adding that the struggle for statehood was for people’s welfare, not family benefits.
