Revanth Reddy Condemns Caste-Based Harassment After IPS Officer Y Puran Kumar’s Death
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday expressed deep shock over the death of senior IPS officer and Haryana Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Y Puran Kumar, who reportedly died by suicide.
CM condemns caste-based harassment
Strongly condemning atrocities against oppressed communities, Revanth Reddy said that the "forced death" of an IPS officer was a glaring example of attacks in the name of caste. “If an ADGP-level officer can face such humiliation, one can imagine the conditions of ordinary people,” he observed.
The Chief Minister voiced serious concern over such incidents and warned that hatred against oppressed communities could poison society. “These disgraceful acts will make people lose faith in the Constitution, equality and justice,” he said, urging everyone to strongly condemn such attacks.
Calls for collective introspection
Reddy said the incident was not merely an attack on an individual officer but an affront to the entire nation. “This is not just about Puran Kumar, it is about our country’s moral fabric,” he said, adding that the matter demanded serious reflection.
He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and asserted that injustice and inhumanity should not be tolerated, regardless of a person’s position or background. “Whether a person is a common citizen or a senior officer, no one should face discrimination,” he added.
