Hyderabad: As part of efforts to strengthen public education, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that 571 new government schools will be opened this year in both rural and urban areas with more than 20 children. The announcement was made during a review meeting held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), attended by senior officials from the Education Department.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government's commitment to providing quality education in government schools. He instructed officials to put in place a system that ensures every enrolled student receives effective instruction. He also directed the department to take steps to improve teaching standards through infrastructure development and teacher training.

He proposed the introduction of skill development programs at the high school level to help students pursue their interests and prepare for future careers.
With urban areas growing rapidly, the Chief Minister directed the Education Department to work with the Municipal Administration Department to identify and utilize land reserved for social infrastructure in HMDA and municipal layouts to set up new schools.

Noting the rising enrollment in Gurukula (residential) schools, driven by the provision of quality meals, uniforms, and textbooks, the Chief Minister suggested a study on offering similar facilities to day scholars in these institutions.
