Rat feces, spoiled veggies found at Narayana Educational Society kitchen in Kuntloor

Hyderabad: The Food Safety Commissioner’s Task Force conducted an inspection at the Central Kitchen of Narayana Educational Society in Kuntloor Village, Rangareddy District, on March 10, 2025. Several violations were observed during the inspection.

The Task Force noted that the water analysis report did not include tests for microbial contaminants. Additionally, the inspection revealed multiple violations related to the license category held by the Food Business Operator (FBO). The FBO was instructed to apply for a modification in accordance with the regulations.

The inspection revealed that nine vehicles used for food transportation did not have the necessary transport category licenses. The kitchen’s flooring was reported to be patchy, and stagnant water was found. Some wall tiles were also broken. The raw inlet water tank for the R.O. plant was found to be unclean.

In the vegetable cutting area, rat feces were observed. Spoiled vegetables, including potatoes and tomatoes, were discarded. Rusty iron knives were being used for cutting vegetables.

The presence of houseflies in multiple areas of the kitchen raised concerns about potential contamination. Additionally, food articles were found stored on the ground instead of on pallets, and food and non-food items were stored together.

Cobwebs were found in various storage areas, indicating a lack of proper cleaning. Several doors were not properly fitted to prevent pest entry. The Task Force has initiated action under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
