Rapido driver arrested for stealing auto in New Malakpet

Hyderabad: On March 16, 2025, the South East Zone Task Force, in coordination with Chaderghat Police Station, arrested Mohammed Haneef Quershi (23), a Rapido driver and resident of Saidabad, for his involvement in an auto theft case. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.

The theft occurred on March 10, 2025, when Quershi stole an auto-rickshaw (TS12UA 7091) from Akberbagh, New Malakpet, with the intent to use it for personal financial gain.

At approximately 10:35 p.m. on March 16, acting on a tip-off, the Task Force and Chaderghat Police intercepted Quershi near Azampura X Roads during a routine vehicle check. When he failed to provide valid documents and gave inconsistent statements, he was detained. During questioning, he confessed to the theft.

The recovered auto-rickshaw, which has the vehicle number TS12UA 7091, chassis number MD2A49AZ5GWL02573, and engine number 24ZWGL12272, was seized by the authorities. The accused has been arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The South East Zone Task Force and Chaderghat Police have urged citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious activities related to vehicle thefts.
