Telangana govt names Ramakrishna Rao as next Chief Secretary
Hyderabad: K Ramakrishna Rao has been named as the next Chief Secretary to the Telangana government. He will replace the outgoing Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, who is set to retire from service on attaining the age of superannuation on April 30, 2025.
Rao was appointed as the new Chief Secretary after an official Government Order (GO) 513 was issued on Sunday.
Earlier, Rao served as a Special Chief Secretary in the Finance department. He is set to retire in August 2025.
Ramakrishna Rao was the front-runner for the coveted post as he brings his extensive experience from his tenure in the finance department.
Meanwhile, the Telangana government has appointed retired IAS officer Chitra Ramachandran as the interim Chairperson of Telangana Real Estate Appellate Tribunal. She will continue as the head of the tribunal until a permanent Chairperson is appointed. In June 2024, Chitra was appointed as a Member of the Telangana Real Estate Appellate Tribunal.
The Telangana Real Estate Appellate Tribunal plays a vital role in adjudicating disputes under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016
The appointment follows the elevation of the previous Chairman and retired judge A Rajasekhar Reddy as the head of Lokayukta. Reddy will hold the office of Lokayukta for a period of five years from the date he assumes charge. He shall be a full-time officer and shall have the status of Chief Justice of a HC during his tenure as Lokayukta.
