Car catches fire near Rajendranagar; Driver escapes unhurt
Hyderabad: A car caught fire on Wednesday night near Rajendranagar in Hyderabad; and however, the driver escaped without injury.
According to the reports, the vehicle was heading toward Rajiv Gandhi International Airport when, near PVNR Expressway pillar number 311, the driver noticed smoke coming from the engine. Before he could bring the car to a full stop, flames erupted. He managed to pull over and exit the vehicle safely.
A fire tender from the Rajendranagar fire station arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze, but the car was completely gutted.
This incident follows a similar one on October 19, 2024, when a moving car caught fire near Miyapur Metro Station. The driver escaped unharmed, though the vehicle was destroyed. The fire caused panic among bystanders and led to traffic congestion from Miyapur to Kukatpally. Fire personnel reached the spot promptly and doused the flames.
In another incident, on the night of January 1, 2025, a lorry carrying hardware materials caught fire in the Jeedimetla Industrial Area. The blaze reportedly began after the lorry came in contact with a high-tension wire.
Flames spread to a nearby HMWSSB water tanker. Firefighters from Jeedimetla responded and brought the situation under control. Both drivers escaped safely.
On December 6, a fire at the Malakpet Metro Station caused panic after a parked bike caught fire, producing thick smoke. The blaze was quickly controlled, though it led to traffic disruption in the area.
