Telangana police seize 401kg ganja worth ₹2 crore hidden in coconut load
HYDERABAD: In a major drug bust on September 29, 2025, the Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station, in coordination with the Regional Narcotics Control Cell, Khammam wing of EAGLE, Telangana, intercepted a DCM vehicle near Ramoji Film City at Pedda Amberpet and arrested three persons from Rajasthan for allegedly transporting 401kg of ganja from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, to Rajasthan.
Police said the contraband, valued at ₹2 crore, was concealed under a load of coconuts and was meant for delivery to a supplier in Rajasthan.
Accused identified
The arrested were identified as Chotu Narayana Lal Naik (34) of Kaderiya, Pushkar Raj Naik (24) of Raghunathpura, and Kishan Lal Nayak (35) of Sahanawa, all from Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan. Police said the accused were transporting the consignment in an Eicher truck (registration number RJ09GE 1754) while escorting it in a Hyundai Venue car (RJ09CD 2430).
Three others — Sridhar alias Guru of Rajahmundry (supplier), Ashu of Bikaner, and Parameshwar of Rajasthan — are absconding.
Direct deal after earlier arrest
According to investigators, one Om Bishnoi of Chittorgarh had been involved in ganja smuggling and used to procure contraband from Sridhar of Rajahmundry. After Bishnoi’s arrest in Jagdalpur, Odisha, and subsequent imprisonment, Chotu Narayana Lal allegedly entered into a direct deal with Sridhar to purchase 400kg of ganja at ₹2,000 per kg and sell it to Ashu in Bikaner at ₹4,000 per kg.
He later roped in Pushkar Raj, Kishan Lal, and Parameshwar for transportation arrangements. The group concealed the contraband under coconuts and began their journey to Rajasthan before being intercepted by the Rachakonda police team.
Police have seized the ganja, both vehicles, and initiated efforts to nab the absconding accused.
