HYDERABAD: Muslim scholars urge cancellation of Raja Singh’s bail, immediate arrest
Hyderabad : A delegation of Muslim scholars and community leaders led by Charminar MLA Mir Zulfiqar Ali met Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, demanding the immediate arrest of suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
The delegation, comprising members of the Central Milad Procession Committee, said that Singh’s repeated comments had deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims and violated court orders. “Muslims can tolerate many things but not disrespect towards their Holy Prophet ﷺ,” the representatives told the Police Commissioner.
Over 40 complaints filed statewide
The committee members said that more than 40 complaints had been registered at various police stations across Telangana by Muslim organisations. They questioned what action the police had taken so far, stressing that Singh’s remarks were often made before elections to gain political mileage.
They also urged the police to move for the cancellation of his bail, stating that Singh had breached the conditions under which it was granted. His conduct, they said, constitutes serious offences under several sections of the Indian Penal Code—Section 153A (promoting enmity between groups), Section 295A (outraging religious feelings), Section 298 (wounding religious sentiments), Section 505(2) (promoting hatred between classes), and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act (publishing objectionable material online).
Call for strict action to maintain peace
The scholars said Singh’s actions were deliberate, malicious, and posed a threat to public order. They urged the police to act swiftly to prevent communal tension. “Such repeated offences are willful violations of law and disrupt communal harmony,” the delegation said.
The delegation included Maulana Syed Sheikhun Ahmed Qadri Shatari (President), Maulana Syed Qadir Mohiuddin Qadri, Juned Pasha Zareen Kullah (General Secretary), Maulana Syed Shah Mohammad Saifullah Husaini Al-Baqari Saif Pasha (Joint Secretary), Maulana Hafiz Mohammad Muzafar Husain Qadri Banda Nawazi (Convener), Maulana Syed Ahmad Al-Husaini Saeed Qadri (Joint Convener), Maulana Dr Khwaja Shah Mohammad Shujauddin Ifteqari Haqqani Pasha (Secretary, Media & Publications), Maulana Syed Ghulam Samdani Ali Qadri, Maulana Zakir Ali Danish, Maulana Syed Nadeemullah Husaini, Maulana Syed Liaqat Husain Rizvi Mukhtar Pasha, and others.
