Quthbullapur MLA office assistant arrested in Jeedimetla for double bedroom housing scam
Hyderabad: The Jeedimetla Police have arrested Bodimi Shetty Haribabu, an assistant at the Quthbullapur MLA’s office, in connection with a double bedroom housing scam that allegedly defrauded multiple individuals.
Thailam Ramesh, a resident of Giri Nagar, Jeedimetla, filed a complaint on July 14, 2025, stating that Haribabu had collected ₹1,00,000 from him, promising to secure a Double Bedroom House under a government housing scheme. According to the complaint, Haribabu failed to fulfill this promise and did not return the money.
Ramesh further claimed that 83 other individuals were similarly deceived, with each person paying around ₹1,00,000 for the same purpose. The funds, it is alleged, were used by Haribabu to construct a house in Reddy Nagar Colony, Quthbullapur, where he is currently residing.
Following Ramesh's complaint, a case was registered at the Jeedimetla Police Station under relevant sections of law. As part of the ongoing investigation, police have recorded statements from eight victims and gathered video evidence, including footage showing one of the victims handing over the money to Haribabu.
Haribabu was apprehended today, and a mobile phone used in the commission of the offence has been seized. He is being produced before the Hon’ble Court. The investigation is continuing, and further updates will follow.
