The new QR (Quick Response) code payment system would eliminate the need for carrying cash, handling loose change, and standing in long queues as the ticket buyers can now initiate a transaction using their mobile device.

South Central Railway has also expanded the digital payment facility to General Booking and Reservation Counters, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free ticketing experience.

Passengers can find dedicated QR code equipment at ticketing counters across all stations in the zone. Once the ticket details are entered into the system, the QR code is displayed on the device, allowing passengers to scan and pay instantly using UPI-based payment apps on their mobile phones. The ticket is generated upon confirmation of payment.

The passengers have been urged to take advantage of this facility. SCR General Manager, Arun Kumar Jain emphasized that digital payments will save time, improve efficiency, and provide a more convenient travel experience.

Last August, the SCR introduced an additional facility of payment of ticket fare through QR code for purchasing tickets. Several separate devices were installed at all ticketing counters of all the stations across the zone right outside the ticket window. After all the relevant details for issuing tickets are fed into the system, before accepting the payment, QR code is displayed on these devices and the same can be scanned by the passenger through the payment Apps present in mobile phones. After confirmation of the receipt of the amount, the ticket will be generated and issued to the passenger
