Prohibitory orders: “Pushpa 2” promotions face uncertainty in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police’s decision to impose prohibitory orders in the city comes at an inopportune time for the makers of the highly anticipated film “Pushpa 2: The Rule” as the Section 144 (now called Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023) will remain in force until 6 pm on November 28.
The prohibitory orders bans assembly of five or more persons, processions, and rallies for one month which means the film's promotional activities in Hyderabad may face restrictions or require special permissions.
The second installment of Pushpa features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in a pivotal role and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film is slated for theatrical release on December 5, 2024.
The prohibitory orders may impact the planned promotional activities ahead of the film's release. As per reports, makers of the Pushpa 2 are considering relocating film’s promotional activities to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. They are also exploring digital alternatives to engage with fans. However, the official response from the Pushpa 2 makers is awaited.
Following the stupendous success of “Pushpa”, the expectations are high among Tollywood fans about its sequel. The makers are targeting over 11,500 theatres for the film’s global release. In India alone, Allu Arjun’s film will be released on more than 6,500 screens.
Police Commissioner CV Anand said the prohibitory orders were necessary as the police had received reliable information that several organizations or parties were trying to create disturbances in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
