Pushpa 2 premier stampede: Telangana Women’s Commission Chairperson visits Sritej

Hyderabad: Telangana State Women’s Commission chairperson Sharada Nerella visited nine-year-old boy Sritej, who was injured during the Sandhya theatre incident and is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Hyderabad.

According to doctors, the boy is semi-conscious but still needs ventilator support. They said his vital parameters are stable, however, he is getting intermittent fever which is expected.

Earlier medical reports suggested his condition was critical. However, the doctors attending to him said his health condition has improved since the time he was admitted to the hospital.

Sritej was rushed to the hospital in a semiconscious state after the policeman failed to revive his condition by administering CPR to him outside Sandhya theatre. Sritej’s mother Revathi died due to asphyxiation and he was injured after a large number of fans gathered at the theatre near RTC Crossroads to catch a glimpse of their matinee idol Allu Arjun.

Based on a complaint from Revath’s husband Bhaskar, CHikkadpally police booked the Pushpa actor, his security team and the management of the theatre under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder'. The police registered an FIR and arrested Allu Arjin and Sandhya theatre owner.

Subsequently, the Telangana High Court granted interim bail to the actor, however, he was detained overnight due to ‘procedural delays’ and released from Chanchalguda central jail on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Bhaskar has reportedly expressed his willingness to withdraw the case as he believes the actor was not responsible for the stampede outside the theatre that led to his wife’s death and serious injury to his child.
