Hyderabad: Prasads Multiplex announces no screening for Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2
Hyderabad: According to reports, for the first time, Prasads Multiplex, a prestigious cinema hall, has decided not to screen Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Prasads Multiplex made an announcement on the social media platform ‘X,’ explaining the situation to their patrons. They stated that, despite their long-standing commitment to offering the best cinematic experience, they would not be screening Pushpa 2 due to unforeseen circumstances. The multiplex expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and thanked their audience for their continued support and understanding.
The announcement stated, "To our valued patrons and partners, for over two decades, we have been dedicated to providing the best cinematic experience to moviegoers. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to screen Pushpa 2 at your beloved Prasads Multiplex. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to your continued support and loyalty."
This marks a historic first, with a major film not being released at Prasads Multiplex, allegedly following a failed negotiation between the Pushpa 2 distributors and the multiplex management.
According to reports, Prasads Multiplex typically shares 52% of box office earnings with distributors, which is the industry standard. However, the distributors of Pushpa 2 demanded 55%, asked the higher ticket prices and their desire to maximize profits.
Despite the distributors' insistence, the two parties failed to reach an agreement. As a result, Prasads Multiplex made the bold decision not to screen the film. The multiplex management was firm, fearing that conceding to the distributors' demands would set a precedent, leading others to request similar terms and potentially destabilizing their business model.
