Hyderabad police swoop on KTR family-owned five star hotel in Gachibowli

Cyberabad police conducted a raid at a five-star hotel in Gachibowli, owned by a company partially owned by KTR, the working president of the BRS party. The raid, which involved 35 personnel from the Narcotics Control Team, SOT, and Cyberabad police, was conducted based on credible inputs about alleged drug-related activities. However, no incriminating evidence was found. Meanwhile, KTR condemned the arrest of BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and demanded his immediate release, calling the arrest undemocratic and a diversion tactic by the Chief Minister. The arrest stemmed from a case registered in Karimnagar, following a heated exchange between Kaushik Reddy and a Congress MLA during a review meeting. The article highlights the political tensions between the BRS and the Congress in Telangana, with the police raid and arrest being perceived as attempts to target and discredit the BRS leadership.

Acting on credible inputs about alleged drug-related activities at the hotel, the police conducted the raid. It is reported that the police personnel checked every room and corner of the hotel and also inspected the customers who were staying in the rooms. However, no incriminating evidence was found in the raid.

In his election affidavits filed for the 2023 Telangana assembly elections, KTR had declared his assets which included the ownership of At Home Hospitality Services Private Limited, and KTR’s wife Shailima Kalvakuntla is the one of the Directors of the firm which runs the five star hotel in Gachibowli. Sridhar Telukuntla, who happens to be a close friend of the BRS working president, is another director at the firm. The hotel is a 10-story property with 190 rooms.

Sharing the police raid video on X, BRS social media convenor Manne Krishank wrote, “After 35 member Team of Police conducted Raid at Hotel of KTR’s family members with a plan to defame BRS Working President but the Raid turned a Flop Show as Revanth Police did not find anything.”

Meanwhile, KTR condemned the arrest of Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and demanded his immediate and unconditional release. “The arrest of Kaushik Reddy is undemocratic and indicates the Chief Minister’s attempt to divert attention from his incompetence to deliver his promises,” the BRS working president said in a statement.

BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy was arrested by the Karimnagar police near Jubilee Hills checkpost on Monday evening. The police told him that he was being arrested in connection with a case registered in Karimnagar.

Earlier, Kaushik Reddy participated in a review meeting held at the Karimnagar collectorate held to review the development works in the united Karimnagar district on Sunday. The review meeting witnessed a heated exchange between BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar over the latter’s political affiliation as he defected from the BRS to the Congress last year.
