Hyderabad’s Aarnav Reddy shines with bronze at Asian skating championship
HYDERABAD: Pentala Aarnav Reddy from Attapur, Hyderguda, Telangana, won a bronze medal at the Asian Open Track Speed Skating Championship held at Himadri Ice Rink, Dehradun, from August 20 to 23, 2025.
Aarnav, a student of Delhi Public School Aerocity, secured third place in the 333-metre race, competing against top skaters from across Asia. His performance marks a significant step in his sporting journey and adds to India’s growing presence in international speed skating.
Parents, coaches lauded for support
Aarnav, the son of Pentala Thirupathireddy and Smitha, said he owed his success to the constant support and encouragement of his parents.
He also acknowledged the role of his coaches — M A Quadeer, Syed Ahsan Ahmed, the Telangana ice skating coach, and Syed Safi Hussaini — for their guidance. They also thanked the Born to Skate Ice and Roller Skating Academy for nurturing his talent and providing training facilities, Inspiration for young athletes
Speaking after his win, Aarnav said the medal was not just a personal milestone but also a source of motivation for aspiring skaters in Telangana and across India.
