Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), on Friday, December 6, 2024, arrested C. Umesh, the Panchayat Secretary of Mahadevpally, Kalher Mandal, Sangareddy District, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 15,000.

According to ACB officials, Umesh was caught red-handed at around 12:05 p.m. while accepting the bribe from the complainant at the MPPO office in Kalher Mandal. The bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for processing and issuing a No Dues Certificate for the complainant's property. The certificate was required to secure a bank loan to establish a fish stall in Masanpally.

The tainted bribe amount of Rs. 15,000 was recovered from Umesh’s trouser pocket and right-hand fingers. The contact portion of his trousers tested positive for the presence of the bribe. ACB officials confirmed that Umesh had acted improperly and dishonestly, using his official position to gain an undue advantage.

C. Umesh has been arrested and will be produced before the Hon'ble Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court in Nampally, Hyderabad. The investigation into the case is ongoing.

The ACB has urged the public to report any incidents of bribery by public servants by contacting the toll-free number 1064 for prompt action. The complainant's identity will remain confidential.
