Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, has registered a case against K. Surender, Panchayat Secretary of Inmulnarva Village, Kothur Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, for demanding and accepting a bribe.

According to the ACB, Surender allegedly demanded ₹1,00,000 and accepted ₹50,000 from a complainant in exchange for setting aside a notice issued regarding construction carried out by the complainant. The officer is accused of misusing his official position and performing his public duty dishonestly.

On the evening of July 25, at around 6:40 PM, Surender accepted the bribe near Indiana Hotel in Shamshabad. However, he managed to flee in a Mahindra SUV (registration number TG 07 C 2555) before he could be apprehended. The ACB later recovered the vehicle and the bribe amount. Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the absconding officer.

The public is urged to report any demands for bribes by government officials by calling the ACB toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made via WhatsApp at 9440446106 or through ACB’s official Facebook page and X (formerly Twitter) handle @TelanganaACB. The identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
