Helpline set up at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi in wake of Pahalgam terror attack

Hyderabad/New Delhi: Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Government of Telangana on April 23, 2025, has set up a helpline at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi to assist citizens and provide timely information. As of now, no residents from Telangana have been reported missing or deceased.

The helpline is a precautionary measure aimed at addressing public concerns. Citizens can contact Vandhana at 9871999044 or Hyder Ali Naqvi at 9971387500 for assistance or information.

Senior officials from Telangana Bhavan are in constant communication with the Jammu and Kashmir administration and central authorities and are closely monitoring the situation.

The attack on April 22 left 26 people dead and 17 injured. Among the injured is Jaya Mishra, a resident of Hyderabad, who sustained minor injuries and is in stable condition.

Among those killed was J. Chandramouli, a retired bank employee from Pandurangapuram, Visakhapatnam. He was reportedly confronted by armed terrorists while visiting Baisaran, a meadow near Pahalgam. Witnesses said he tried to flee but was chased and shot at close range. His body was found three hours later by fellow tourists. His family has left for Pahalgam, and his mortal remains are being transported to Visakhapatnam.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will receive Chandramouli’s body at Visakhapatnam airport and meet with the family.

Another victim, Somisetty Madhusudhan Rao, a software engineer from Kavali in Nellore district, was also killed in the attack. He had traveled to Jammu with his wife and two children. His body is being taken to Kavali for final rites.

An excise officer posted in Hyderabad, Manish Ranjan, was also among the deceased. A native of Bihar, Ranjan was on a Leave Travel Concession trip with his family. He was reportedly shot in front of his wife and children, who survived the attack.

The attack, suspected to have been carried out by a Pakistan-based terror group, has left the country in shock, especially the families of the victims and security officials.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy condemned the attack in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a cowardly act and urging the Centre to take strict action against those responsible.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also expressed grief over the deaths of Chandramouli and Madhusudhan, calling them a tragic loss to the Telugu community. He affirmed support for the Union Government’s efforts to deal with terrorism decisively.
